I started my painting career in 1971 learning from the best tradesmen. Painting gives me a great deal of satisfaction, a little paint does wonders. Getting the right colour is a big part of the project. Applying a sample of the colour to areas is helpful. I am personally involved in each project to ensure quality workmanship. Interiors require careful preparation which includes sanding of areas to be painted to remove any roughness. Then carefully checking for dents and holes and repairing them. All repairs need to be primed before proceeding with the first coat. Wood trim should be checked for gaps that require caulking. The experience I have in refinishing old varnished woodwork gives me the ability to know what to do. Some old finishes requires the top layer to be removed and the stain refreshed. Which requires careful matching of the existing colour and tinting the putty for filling of holes so they blend blend in. In some cases old finishes may only require a fresh coat of varnish. When it comes to plaster repair and drywall repair I am able to completely restore the damaged area so it totally blends in. Exteriors require careful preparation and attention to detail is required to ensure that it is done right. Using only top of the line materials for exteriors ensures longer lasting finishes. Wood decks in some cases need a great deal of preparation. It depends on the condition of the deck. In most cases it is best to remove the old finish. Putting a new finish over an old finish that is not sound is a recipe for disaster. That is why assessing each deck carefully to see what procedure would be best is important. The horizontal surfaces on decks wear quickly so it is best to refinish them every two to three years before they begin failing. This saves the cost of removing a failing finish.
